YAPI April News and Notes
by McCoy Genfan (age 11)
YAPI (Young Artist Performance
Incubator) is a community service event created and run by Brenda
Freed. Recently Brenda has been having the performers, or just
plain old kids, run part of the show. For example kids can
volunteer to: MC, photograph the performers, help run the sound,
write the newsletter (that's what I'm doing, but others can volunteer
also), put up posters around the Wimberley area and help people
sign up for YAPI.
If you missed April's YAPI, then you missed the crowd going
wild for our first tap dance performance. Read on for all the
details.
In April's YAPI we had a slightly smaller crowd than usual but
with just the same amount of talent; we had a total of 4 acts
and 6 participants including: Savanna Stoltz (10) who started
off YAPI by singing, accompanied by Brenda on the piano, McCoy
Genfan (11) who read his original writings, Jackson Demaree (13)
who tap danced wonderfully and Albanie Felleta who finished off
April's YAPI by singing and playing the guitar. Elisia
Hartin (16) was the MC and Eliza Van Overschelde was our trusty
photographer.
Notice: Brenda will be gone for the May YAPI and therefore she
would like to ask if anyone would like to volunteer for setting
up and running the May YAPI. The person running it would need
to provide a PA system. If there is no one to volunteer to run
the May YAPI then we probably won't have another YAPI until August,
since we are taking a summer break from YAPI.
And also remember to go to Maui Wowi coffee shop for
great coffee and smoothies.
