ALBUM REVIEW - Brenda Freed's new album, Sort It Out, paints a lot of pictures of the faces of love from every angle. Freed's touch moves from tough to sweet and back in flavors that range from the blues to pure folk to rock to jazz. In every genre she explores the human emotions in ten very different tunes, all but one of them which she wrote herself. The exception is J.B. Braden's fine song Ships in which Freed allows herself to be happy with love. In the rest she's taking names, as the saying goes. There are other happy love songs here. But Freed's tough girl delivery backs up her lyrics and the songs never get maudlin.

Produced by Freed and Merle Bregante, the album features Freed's usual band: Val Roessling, doing some excellent guitar work, Tim Harden on bass with Merle Bregante standing in on drums. Fine work on the nature of love and its loss. Sort It Out by Brenda Freed from Creative Endeavors.
