Him & Her is Brenda Freed on vocals and piano, guitar or mandolin and Michael D'Eath on harmonica. Brenda has been performing in Texas since 1991 when a 9,000-mile bicycle trip ended unexpectedly at the Kerrville Folk Festival and she decided to stay in Texas to pursue a singer/songwriter career. Since that time, she has toured Texas, southern California, the Midwest, England and Ireland.   In 1999, she met Michael D'Eath at the Kerrville Folk Festival and the two were married in 2000, touring England the same year.

In 2002, Brenda formed Texas Hot Flash, 'a cappella and then some', which won a 2005 Austin Music Award for Best Performing Band in their category. On hiatus for 2006, Texas Hot Flash played all over central Texas, toured Southern California and opened for Charlie Daniels Band at the 2005 Firefly Festival in Indiana.   Him & Her emerged from Texas Hot Flash as a separate duo performing in the Texas Hill Country, and the East and West coasts of the U.S. with singer/songwriter and cover material from folk to blues to jazz.

A tasty accompanying musician, D'Eath (pronounced Dee-Ath), grew up in England with a musical upbringing singing in a boys choir and studying classical piano.   He moved to Texas as a teenager to pursue a career in high technology.   In the late 90, he returned to performing music, choosing harmonica as his primary instrument.  In addition to being a member of Texas Hot Flash, D'Eath has performed locally with the Quitters, Mopac and the Blue Suburbans, Gerry Burns (Gerry's Kids), Sara Hickman, Three for a Dollar, Mike Blakely, Travis "Moonchild" Haddix and the Rocket 88's in Phoenix, AZ and The Crowd on The Outer Banks, NC.   Austin musician, Alton Rex, said, "Michael plays the harmonica the same way all the great singers sing... with a passion directly from the heart. His playing is a pure expression of soul, and it resonates some place deep in the source of us all. In my ten years in Austin, I've heard none better, and he's my first call when I need a harmonica for a recording session."

Couple D'Eath's harmonica playing with Freed's voice which has been described as "beautiful as it seems to wrap itself around each note and makes it her own," (Graham Warwick, Hill Country Happenings) and “one of the best undiscovered singers around," (Aaron Allan, Country Music Association Hall of Fame Texas Inductee, 2000) and you get a dynamic duo.   Him & Her caress each note with their individual styles, creating a unique blend for the beautiful melodies of their jazzy bluesy original songs.  They also add their style to carefully chosen covers.
